France intends to set a specific age limit for 15 years. So following those recommendations anyone who is found to have sex under that age will have been raped. These decisions have come to the country soon after doctors and lawyers gave their advice on the age at which a person should start having sex. This change has come after two recent cases in France involving men having sex with girls as young as 11. In current law, if a person is found guilty of having sex with someone under 15 whether it is voluntary or contractual, the defendant will be charged with the offense of sexual intercourse with the child but not the offense of rape. The offense will require the defendant to pay as much as $ 87,000 as part of the sentence and go to prison for five years.
